Urban On Stage: Round #1
20:30 - 21:10
Theater aan het Vrijthof: Bovenzaal
Also at 9:45 pm. Max. 110 seats available.
During Museumnacht Maastricht, the intimate Bovenzaal will be the place to be for the young and diverse urban scene. Expect dance, rap, and hip hop. The programme includes a performance by Urban/Contemporary Dance Company Oxygen and a rap/hip hop performance by spoken word artist Brohlin.
Maastricht choreographer and three-time hip hop champion Jennifer Romen will create a new choreography especially for Museumnacht Maastricht. Oxygen has attracted the international spotlight with various highlights such as winning the Dutch TV show 'Dance As One', receiving a 'Golden Buzzer' in the French version of 'Got Talent', and reaching the final in the US hit TV show 'NBC World of Dance' featuring Jennifer Lopez as a judge. Oxygen is known for choosing to combine dance with visual illusion effects.
Brohlin Coumans (Roermond, 1993) got into language – specifically spoken word – at a young age. He performed with diverse artists (including Kunststof and Zijkant) and toured as MC with Mennis. In 2018, he released his first English EP called ‘Misfit Avenue’. In 2021, after releasing a few more English he tracks, he decided to embrace his mother tongue and start the production of his first Dutch record. In the same year, he won the audience award during the very first Pyke Mic edition. Though Brohlin is pretty experienced in the world of spoken word, one thing is certain: he is only getting started!
